Kent Men's Convention 2020
God's Power, Your Purpose
Biblical manhood in Genesis and beyond
A day of fellowship & encouragement from God's Word
Saturday 22nd February 2020
Main speaker: Gavin Peacock
Venue: Rochester Baptist Church
*early bird price ends 31st December, £15 from 1st January 2020
Main speaker Gavin Peacock was born in Kent (a Kentish Man, not a Man of Kent!) where he played professional football for 18 years for Chelsea, Newcastle, QPR and Gillingham (the team his father Keith managed in the 1980s). Following his playing career Gavin worked as a BBC football pundit from 2002-2008. He was converted to Christ at age 18 and was used by God to bear witness to the gospel throughout his career.
In 2006 God called him to pastoral ministry, and after moving to Canada in 2008 he trained to serve as a Pastor at Calvary Grace Church in Calgary. Gavin is also Director for International Outreach for the Council for Biblical Manhood & Womanhood (CBMW). He is married to Amanda and they have two adult children, Jake and Ava. He is the co-author of 'The Grand Design', an introduction to biblical manhood and womanhood.
Session 3 will be an open 'Q&A' session, offering you a chance to put questions to a panel. Gavin will be joined by Le Fras Strydom (director of the Word One to One) and Dr Stephen Lloyd (lecturer for the Biblical Creation Trust and pastor of Hope Church, Gravesend).
Many of us men get pretty lost in the culture that we live in. Our first men's convention is a thrilling opportunity to go back to our origins and discover God's design for us. Our prayer is that the book of Genesis will be that lamp to our feet that we all need.
The meaning of 'gender' has been undermined in our culture, leaving many confused and uncertain about what God asks of us as Christian men. We need our foundation reinforced through a deeper knowledge of the scriptures. That is why I am really excited that Gavin will be joining us for our first Kent Men's Convention. His passion, clarity and faithfulness to the scriptures on this important - and often misunderstood - subject of dominion will equip us to be men that live as a powerful witness to the glory of God.
